It's hard to go wrong with The Dodos, and with their fourth LP, titled No Color, they have yet to lead me astray. A solid album all the way through, it is still incomparable to their breakout album, and my personal favorite, Visiter. There's no doubt that No Color brings all the charm of any Dodos album, but there's something missing that could have transformed it from a good album to a fantastic one.

Every track on the album is classic Dodos, but the true gem here is clearly "Good", the only song that feels to me like it could have been pulled straight out of the Visiter sessions. This is not to say that the other songs are bad by any means. All the fast paced guitar picking and unique percussive work is evident, but many of the songs lack the passion that accompanied songs on Visiter.

No Color sounds great on vinyl. The wax brings out the percussion nicely, creating a very warm, rich sound. It is pressed on black, 120 gram vinyl. The album is packaged in a gatefold sleeve, but unfortunately does not include lyrics.
